Word Of the Head Department of Biomedical Engineering
It is my great pleasure, and after nearly 20 years of submitting the first proposal from some colleagues (in the year 1999 AD) to establish a department of medical engineering in the faculty of Engineering, that the dream will come true by a decision of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (42) for the year 2021 AD to establish this first department in universities Libyan. Medical engineering is the scientific specialty that applies principles and concepts derived from engineering, science and technology to contribute solving medical problems. Medical engineering is considered one of the latest engineering sciences that arose with the development of modern medicine. After the doctor alone carried out all the tasks of diagnosis, treatment, and even the manufacture of medicine, the medical device became an essential auxiliary for the doctor in diagnosis, treatment, and patient monitoring. This section is a great contribution to the field of science and learning.
Medical engineering is one of the relatively recent disciplines, as it has begun to spread in most universities in the world, whether in developing or industrially developed countries, by applying the foundations, principles and engineering techniques in medical fields, and includes and pertains to several interests in diagnosis, treatment, pharmacy, health care, community medicine, nursing, etc., and includes engineering Tissue and Genetic Engineering, Medical Imaging, Organ Transplantation, Clinical Engineering, Rehabilitation, Device Engineering, Nanotechnology Applications, and more.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the faculty of Engineering seeks to be one of the leading departments in North Africa and the Middle East by providing high-quality education to students, and carrying out research that serves national, regional and global interests. The focus of the department is primarily on the quality of education and scientific research, in order to prepare And preparing its graduates by developing their skills and abilities to learn and arming them with knowledge and promoting a culture of innovation and creativity so that they contribute to improving the health care of the people of the country.
