Word Of the Head Department of Preventive Medicine
Greeting
The Department of Preventive Medicine is considered one of the active scientific departments in the college, which constitutes The important role of this department in various fields that link animal health and community health in protecting humans from the transmission of many diseases of animal origin, as veterinary medical sciences are taught in specialized subjects at different academic stages. These specializations include epidemiology, animal health, and diseases. Common, animal care, genetics and breeding. The Department of Preventive Medicine also grants a higher degree (Master’s) in Veterinary Medical Sciences (M.V.SC), specializing in preventive medicine. The educational program for obtaining a higher degree covers various preventive medicine sciences, which include epidemiology, common pathology, health science and management of animal herds. The science of care, breeding, genetics and breeds.
a. Animal Behavior and Care Science: This course aims to introduce the foundations of raising, treating and caring for animals with full coverage of the health and behavioral care rules related to the individual and the herd. B. Genetics and Breeding: Genetics and Breeding aims to introduce the basic rules of genetics and its laws in order to benefit from them in increasing productivity. C. Herd health and management science: This course aims to introduce the various programs related to the health and management of animal herds. D. Epidemiology: In this course, the student studies the factors affecting the health of animal herds, the causes of diseases, their methods of spread, the composition of animal herds, the forms of disease occurrence in animal herds, methods of epidemiological diagnosis, in addition to methods of measuring the occurrence of disease in animal herds, with the aim of arriving at a hypothesis for identifying the causes of disease in order to test these. Hypothesis through analytical epidemiology, through which experimental studies or observational studies are used to determine the relationship between exposure to the pathogen and the occurrence of the disease. In this science, the student studies epidemiological surveys, epidemiological surveillance, and seroepidemiology, which is the information that is used to control the epidemic if it occurs. In this course, the student studies the classification of common diseases and their most important types, with a focus on their epidemiology and methods of resistance at the national and global levels, with an introduction to the relevant international organizations and diseases that must be reported if they are discovered locally and internationally.
